You can't do any serious geneology research without software to store and organise your results, I have used Family Tree Maker to keep track of my family history research. Its very good and has many new features in the new version as well as being compatible with earlier version (allways backup files before you upgrade, just in case), it allows you to generate GEDCOM formatted files to exchange with other geneology researchers.

An alternative program is which I haven't used Family Historian 4 Deluxe Genealogy Software (PC CD) but the reviews, in particular comments on GEDCOM file exchange are interesting. If you use this program or know someone who does please contact us and let us know what its like.
